"I can pinpoint to you, using this map, where you are standing today," Col. Rey Ardo, commanding officer of the 103rd Infantry Brigade told me as he showed with pride a tri-dimensional map of Lanao del Sur made of sawdust.
We'll this isn't the first time I saw this kind of map. Its usually made to determine the land area and its accurate elevation.
For an operational view, this indeed can pinpoint where somebody else is or where the Tranco's towers are located, but it will not bare the intricacies and challenges on the ground that is very susceptible to changes.
For now, I could say that military's capability on mapping targets can be done at a point finger away; though the 3D map could only make a visible direction.
