Resolutions passed for probe on Iligan bombings and hinterland road projects

ILIGAN CITY (MindaNews/16 July)-- Two resolutions were passed here to look into the bombings and alleged attempts to stop development projects in the hinterlands.
The City Council passed a resolution urging the national government to create an independent investigative body that would look into the spate of bombings in this city and other parts of Mindanao.
At the same time, residents of Barangay Kalilangan also made a resolution declaring it as a peace zone after alleged members of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) swooped down on their barangay, fired and torched with rocket propelled grenade a bulldozer at a little past 1 a.m. on July 8, allegedly to stop the road construction project in the hinterland village.

Councilor Moises Dalisay proposed that the investigative body be composed of retired Supreme Court justices of this country who would look into the motives, identify who are behind the spate of bombings and recommend to the national government to file charges against these criminals and put them behind bars.
