My quietude: Breaking it.

I was, for sometime, “very quiet.”

My blog also silenced.

Why?

I worked for a year and resigned as officer-in-charge of the Office of the Maranao, Higaonon and Other Cultural Communities under the Iligan City Mayor’s office. Like many others, I don’t want to betray my frustrations.

I put up a sari-sari store at our residence in Celdran Village with the assistance of Brian, my partner (in bed and off the bed. Hahaha!) This opened the door for me to get to know new personalities from neighbourhood; many agents of varied companies; daily exposure to the stale odor of the market; experiences to queue in the counters of wholesaler stores; membership to entrepreneurial opportunities for vendors’ to access “suki cards”; and to be truly acquainted with fast changing figures of the market prices.

Like other vendors who fret dismal economy, I too struggled with them to survive. But on a positive note, I become shrewd with budget. I set focus on market demands with marketing principles in mind that “it’s possible to offer low prices of commodities if I’ll not deal with middlemen in the market world.” I am getting more particular with what is capital and what is income; and that NO capital should be left at the store’s coffer as cold cash. That should be rotated everyday and I must wait for its return every midnight.

Its bit hard but its ever challenging me. Through months, I learned to make all internal controls to ensure that business is at the right pace, even hurling shits to small mistakes to retract it to right direction. I have not schooled Bachelor of Science in Accountancy but I know now what is debit and credit as well as its fundamental.

But see… when I look at the store from a distance, I felt elated that it got two billboards now and quite filled with stocks.

But life has its thrusts…

A month after my resignation as officer in charge of OMaHCC, the Task Force 4774+1 had a board meeting and agreed that I should be requested to work with the team as its staff to help in the campaign to revert the dismal state of elementary education of Iligan city; improve the retention of pupils in all schools here; capacitate teachers to improve their classroom instruction; enhance leadership skills of administrators and to see the pupils pass the National Achievement Test (NAT). (I’d like to make a separate blog for this.)

For all the quietude, I was actually making life possible. I am still am. Violet, red and blue.
